Wednesday Night Live (WNL) is the place to be this Spring!   At WNL we have a commitment to be love centered and to provide opportunities to grow in our discipleship.

Here at Blue Ridge we are about Building Relationships. Jesus taught that the Great Commandment, Love our God and our Neighbor should be at the center of our life. As Disciples we know the importance of a life long commitment to learning so our lives can be love centered. At WNL we have a commitment to be love centered and to provide opportunities to grow in our discipleship.  At the center of WNL is a meal served in the Fellowship Hall. All are invited to this meal to grow in the fellowship of the church. You do not have to be enrolled in a class to eat. The meal is served from 5:00 to 6:30. Cost is $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for children and youth and no family pays more than $18.00. Children 3 and under eat free!

Wednesday Night Live Begins on March 5
Have You Signed Up for a Class Yet?

The start of the WNL spring semester is just around the corner… classes will resume on Wednesday, March 5.     As Christians, we’re called to grow as disciples and mature in our faith.  We answer that call by dedicating ourselves to learning, service, worship, and fellowship.  That’s what WNL is all about.  This spring we’ll be offering four new classes that promise to be both challenging and enriching.  Additionally, the classes are scheduled so that all participants can take full advantage of the famous WNL dinner; served in Fellowship Hall from 5:00 to 6:15.  To register for a class or to get more information, simply call (353-1435) or email (brumc@blueridgechurch.org) the Church office.

THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH

Designed and taught by Dr. Lutgen, this is an eight week class that will explore the theological, historical, and biblical mandates behind the church and its ministry.  The class will also cover the role each of us is called to play in the fulfillment of its mission.   Specific topics  include:  Wesley’s understanding of Church’s mission with regard to serving the poor, the Church’s responsibility in times of crisis, Church mission in a multi-faith context, and the Church’s role in the development of peoples.  Those participating in the class will be given opportunities to discern how they are being called to be a part of this mission at Blue Ridge UMC.

Class time:  6:15 – 7:30
Duration:  8 weeks
Instructor:  Dr. Ken Lutgen

GRIEFSHARE

The death of a spouse, child, family member or friend can be devastating.  GriefShare, with its biblical, Christ-centered perspective, helps us find or deepen our faith in Christ as we examine soul-level questions about death, dying, our own mortality and eternal life.  Grief and the deep hurts that accompany it are among the most significant spiritual turning points in a person's life.  Hopefully, this grief recovery support group will provide you with tools and a strategy to move toward Christ as the source of your healing.  We will meet for thirteen sessions.

Class time: 4:00 – 5:30
Duration: 13 weeks
Instructor: Dr. Barbara Thompson

CHRISTIAN FAITH AND WORLD RELIGIONS

Led by Dr. Smith, this class will explore the world’s major religions with an eye on what we as Christians might learn from them.  The class will also focus on other religions’ unique contributions to mankind’s search for truth and peace with God.  Bring your Bible, a spiral notebook, and you faith questions.

Class time:  6:15 – 7:30
Duration:  6 weeks
Instructor: Dr. James Smith

WORSHIP THAT PLEASES GOD

This 7-week class will explore the subject of worship; what true worship is, the kind of worship that pleases God, and our personal role in worship as God originally intended it.  The class will utilize Rick Warren's book, The Purpose Driven Life, and other resources to deepen our understanding of this important topic.

Class time:  4:00 – 5:30
Duration:  7 weeks
Instructor:  Donna Eaton

MEALS AND CHILDCARE
