Most activities involve a range of skill levels, and many are perfect for families. Activities may include sorting food at Harvesters, painting and minor household repairs, putting together medical kits for Heart-to-Heart, yard clean-up for senior adults in the surrounding community, serving a meal or cleaning at Ronald McDonald House, etc.

HARVESTERS We will once again be helping at the Harvesters Community Food Network, on Saturday, May 30. Our group will work in their warehouse sorting and repackaging food donations. Tours will also be available for those who have not been to Harvesters before. We had a great time and accomplished a lot during other visits. This is a wonderful opportunity for families, all skill levels and all ages. (children age 5 & up are welcome to join us). We will be volunteering from 8:30 to 11:30am at their warehouse located at 3801 Topping. Please meet at the church around 8am to carpool. We will leave at promptly 8:15am. Dress casual and wear closed-toed shoes (open toed shoes are not allowed in warehouse). Also, feel free to bring a couple canned goods to donate! RSVPs are not necessary but Harvesters does like to have some idea of the group size. Therefore, if you know for sure you will be volunteering, please call Sherri Woodward, 356-6428, or email sjwsmile@aol.com.
June 27, 2009 (This was originally scheduled for April 25 and was rescheduled to June) OPERATION IRAQI CHILDREN The April S.O.S. (Saturday of Service) activity will be helping at Operation Iraqi Children (OIC) in northeast KC. Operation Iraqi Children gives concerned Americans a way to reach out to war-stricken Iraqi children and support American troops in their efforts to assist them. Since its inception in 2004, OIC has delivered over 200,000 school supply kits. We will be sorting and assembling school supplies for soldiers to distribute. There will also be an opportunity for children (or adults) to write letters to the soldiers. This is a great service activity for all skill levels. Children are welcome, if accompanied by an adult. Please meet at the church to carpool by promptly 8:30am. We will volunteer from 9am until 12noon. Since we will be working in a warehouse, please remember dress is casual, layers are good, and wear closed-toed shoes. Blue Ridge United Methodist will once again be helping
the Raytown Shepherd's Center with their annual Spring
Clean-Up. We will meet at One-Spirit United Methodist
Church, 7900 Blue Ridge Blvd, at 8:30am. Complimentary
coffee and donuts will be provided for all
volunteers. Volunteers from Blue Ridge will then divide
into smaller work teams to do miscellaneous yard
clean-up for area senior citizens who are unable to do
it themselves.
Again, the is great
opportunity for families. Even some of the youngest
children can help with raking and bagging leaves.
Please bring rakes, work gloves, etc. that might be
helpful. Bags will be provided by Shepherd's Center.

We will be sorting medical supplies in their warehouse, located at 1021 Pacific. This is a great opportunity for all skill levels. Children are welcome, if accompanied by an adult. Please meet at the church to carpool by promptly 8:30am. We will volunteer at Heart-to-Heart from 9am-12noon. Dress is casual, layers are good, and wear closed-toed shoes (open toed shoes are not allowed in warehouse). REAP We will with assisting with various projects at Raytown Emergency Assistance Program (REAP) on Saturday, October 25th. Our group will be receiving, sorting and stocking donations received from a special Boy Scout Food Drive. In addition, some of our group will be working at the new building. Work will vary based on what’s needed at the time, but may include general clean-up, sweeping, painting, etc This is a wonderful opportunity for families, all skill levels and all ages. (children age 5 & up are welcome to join us). We will be volunteering from 8:30am to 12:30pm, and REAP has graciously offered to provide lunch for the volunteers. Please meet at the church by no later than 8:15am to carpool. Also, since the REAP pantry is extremely low this time of year, feel free to bring a couple canned goods to donate! CITY UNION MISSION The May S.O.S. (Saturday of Service) activity will be helping City
Union Mission. City Union Mission has been providing warm beds,
nutritious food, and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with the
poor and homeless in the Kansas City area for over 80 years.

NEW HOUSE Join fellow church members as we help at New House, a local non-profit shelter for women suffering from domestic violence. We will be preparing rooms to be painted (taping, removing draperies, etc) and painting. This service activity is for adults and youth (6th grade & up). New House will provide all the supplies needed, including tape, paint, brushes, rollers, etc. However, a couple extra step ladders would be helpful. Dress in clothing appropriate for painting. Please meet at the church at 8:30am to carpool to New House. We will work from 9am-12noon and return to church by 12:30pm.
