BLUE RIDGE BOULEVARD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
2007 Sermon Schedule:
| Date | Minister | Sermon Title | Based on Scripture | Synopsis |
| Oct 21 | Dr. Ken Lutgen, Jr. | Nagging for God's Justice | Luke 18:1-8 | Sometimes we in the church forget that our faith is a faith that demands we seek Justice and Care for all God's People. We are not here to look good, but to do good so that when the Son of Man returns he will find faith. |
| Oct 28 | Dr. Ken Lutgen, Jr. | A Homecoming of Sorts - Zacchaeus | Luke 19:1-10 | Zacchaeus, a little man, a man up a tree, a man demanding God take notice of him. A man ready to fight with God, discovers God will not fight with him, will not stop to his level, but rather calls him down out of his tree, down from his lofty place to stand face to face with him, “Zacchaeus come down I must come to your house today.” |
| Nov 4 | Dr. Ken Lutgen, Jr. | Membership or Discipleship | Luke 18:9-14 |
Is there a difference from being a member of the church and being a disciple of Jesus? As a member of the church we make a very specific commitment spelled out in our membership vows, but as a disciple what is the nature of our commitment? |
| Nov 11 | Rev. Jerry Daily | New Consecration Stewardship Sunday | ||
| Nov 18 | Dr. Ken Lutgen, Jr. | Blessed to be a Blessing | Luke 6:20-31 |
As Christians we realize our lives are blessed in so many ways. We live in the affluence of this society and with many wonderful opportunities to share with others. A true spirit of Thanksgiving for the Christian is the realization we are blessed to be a blessing for others. |
| Nov 25 | Rev. Bryan Wendling | How's Your Attitude | Philippians 2:5-8. Psalm 34:1-4 |
Of all the knobs, switches, dials, and gismos in an airplane’s cockpit the single most critical of them all is the attitude indicator. Why? Because the airplane’s performance is dependent upon its attitude relative to the world around it. The pilot manages the airplane’s performance by managing its attitude. Isn’t it the same for us? Doesn’t our attitude also dictate our performance in life? What if we had an attitude indicator in the cockpits or our lives? |

Luke 2:1-20 |
Christmas is a painful time for many for they are looking in department stores and under Christmas trees and at men dressed up in scary red suits for something this world can never give. |

|
Joy Turned to Sorrow | Matthew 2:13-23 |
How quickly the joy of Christmas turns to the sorrow of the day and people rush from Christmas to take up their weary lives again. When do you suppose if ever it does not have to be this way? |
